Having joined a new Skype group, during a conversation we were sharing our url’s so we could see what each were doing. I visited the blog of someone I was talking to and with one look at the header, nearly closed the page. It just didn’t appeal to me and held a certain disharmony.

It was only because we were introducing ourselves on Skype I thought I’d take the time to have a bit more of a look around. While watching a video she had posted, a single comment caught my attention. I opened and read her About Me page.

Suddenly I realised I had found someone with very similar interests to mine. And to think I nearly hadn’t given her a chance!

After contacting her I discovered I have made a great new friend and business partner.

She has since told she nearly cried when she recieved her custom header and is in the process of getting a new one designed which is looking very beautiful and much more attractive. When I told her I was going to write this post she told me to make sure to tell you; if you are paying a professional designer for a header, if it’s not what you want, don’t accept it. Get them to fix it. The same goes for any outsourcing.

So, next time you’re tempted to close a blog just because you don’t like the header, take a couple of moments to take a closer look, you never know what hidden gems you might find.

I’d love to hear of any experiences you’ve had where you’ve found someone to be completely different to your first impressions once you’ve given them a chance. Please leave me a comment.

If you make a mistake do you berate yourself? Do you call yourself names, put yourself down and generally speak to yourself in a negative tone? Stop and listen. Would you speak to your best friend the way you speak to [...] Continue Reading…

When I completed Eric Goldstein’s Five Affirmations to Change Your Life challenge one of the affirmations he recommended was “I trust in the Universe to deliver me exactly what I need in each moment”.

This affirmation got me thinking about one of the things the Universe delivers when you need them, whether you like it or not. Life lessons. The longer you try to ignore these lessons the more insistent they become. Have you ever found a time in your life when everything you do and encounter seems to point [...] Continue Reading…

What To Do if You “Fail?”

By Rowena Coshan · Comments Comments Off

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ~Winston Churchill~
I have put the word “fail” in quotes in the title because I strongly believe that you never REALLY fail if you’ve learned something. There’s a difference between a good goal and a good outcome – sometimes, despite your best efforts, you can’t make even a good goal work.

In my experience, there are three main reasons for “failure:”

Your goal was wrong.

You did all the right things, but you were aiming at the [...] Continue Reading…

Are You Barrowing Your Business?

By Rowena Coshan · Comments Comments Off

After a couple of years of neglect and a recent bushfire, I decided recently it was time to get my vegetable garden going again. I started picking up burnt reticulation and pulling out dead plants. With the amount of grass that had grown up I knew I was going to need to sheet mulch again. At that point I had to take a break to get my toddler fed and off for a sleep.

Meanwhile my husband got in and laid out the cardboard, got in his Bobcat and brought [...] Continue Reading…
